Yet, Brisbane CBD is only a short 30-minute commute by train.

Sitting opposite Einbunpin Lagoon Park, Sandgate Village along Brighton Road offers shops perfect for suburban conveniences. The local foodie scene is on the rise, with firm favourites undergoing refurbs, while the local fish n’ chips shops make a roaring trade with their fresh ocean seafood.   

When it comes to bayside living, it doesn’t get more family-friendly than Sandgate. From its sandy shores and foreshore parks to its lagoons with walking trails and ample picnic spaces. Overlooking the bay Lover’s Walk meanders between Sandgate and neighbouring Shorncliffe, the Sandgate Aquatic Centre is a popular spot to cool off during the warmer months, and Dowse Lagoon sits centre stage with its towering gum trees and picnic facilities. 

Adding to the family-friendly appeal is the selection of primary schools within Sandgate itself, and high schools in neighbouring Bracken Ridge and Shorncliffe, plus the playing fields of Deagon Sportsgrounds and Curlew Park cater to weekend sports. Throughout, quiet streets are lined with a mix of coastal abodes and Queenslander homes, with many along Flinders Parade capitalising on bay views. 

One of the lesser-known bayside suburbs, Sandgate has long enjoyed the quiet side of life, but more and more, this pretty coastal town has caught the attention of families eager to own their slice of Brisbane’s Moreton Bay region.
