Minnamurra.
Minnamurra is a quiet coastal town along Sydney’s prized south coast. Best known for its picturesque Minnamurra River that meanders through the neighbouring towns of Jamberoo and Kiama Downs, Minnamurra is the perfect destination for a sea change or seaside holiday.
Minnamurra is part of the Kiama Municipality and is located just 33 kilometres south of Wollongong and 115 kilometres south of Sydney. With rolling hills and charming country pastures to the west and the South Pacific Ocean to the east, Minnamurra provides the best of both country charms and coastal escapes. Along with Minnamurra River, Minnamurra Beach is another highlight of visiting the charming village. Referred to as ‘Mystics Beach’ by the locals, the extensive stretch of beach just off the Minnamurra River estuary is a popular surfing and fishing spot, or somewhere to simply wile the afternoon away.
If you do plan on venturing out of town, you shouldn’t miss an opportunity to visit one of the most popular attractions of the region: the Minnamurra Rainforest Centre. Nestled 25 minutes inland from Minnamurra, Minnamurra Rainforest Centre is part of the Budderoo National Park and is a stunning subtropical rainforest that’s viewable from a 1.6-kilometre elevated boardwalk (the Rainforest Loop Walk) and winds through some of the most breathtaking natural scenery the region has to offer.
While much of Minnamurra’s attractions are nature-centric, its proximity to busy Kiama Downs and neighbouring Shellharbour means a coffee, bite to eat, or a touch of boutique shopping is never far out of reach.
